Ready to head back to the nineties? I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like this song. When the first few riffs start to play, most people are immediately thrown into a timewarp, taking them back to that time and place, that relationship, that moment. This is the power of Eagle Eye Cherry’s Save tonight. For me, it takes me back to my Matric year (it had been around a while by then) but as part of our final day of high school our grade changed the lyrics and sang back to the rest of the girls we were leaving behind. What’s your memory?
I absolutely adore this song off the Juno movie soundtrack. It’s a beautiful love story of potentials, what could happen if said girl meets wooing boy at the statue in an hour. It reminds me very much of The Shins Pink Bullets (which is actually my favorite song of all time, if I had to just pick one). It is the oh-so-wistful Piazza New York catcher from the Glasgow based, Beetles-sounding indie pop group Belle and Sebastian (sadly for some reason they never made an official music video).
This gritty, dark and delicious music video by the NYC trio Yeah Yeah Yeah’s is one of my all-time favorites (and not just coz they did a cover on Glee) I feel for some reason like the video pays homage to Michael Jackson (it came out the same year that he died) as evidenced in the black & white suit and slick dance moves. The use of the red glitter at the end gets me every time! Off their its blitz! album, enjoy what I consider to be one of this indie-rock outfits best singles ever!
I thought I’d post this week about one of my most favorite bands ever, in honour of the fact that they are working on a new album.
Snow Patrol made it big internationally with this song in 2006 after it featured in America in an episode of Grey’s Anatomy. Amazingly, this song spent a massive 52 weeks on one of Britain’s top music charts.
Snow Patrol have never failed to woo me with their powerful and heartfelt lyrics found throughout their body of work. Needless to say I’m looking forward to the next album. Gary Lightbody might be funny looking, but when he opens his mouth to sing, he’s the sexiest man alive.

It’s Thursday Throwback time. Fair enough, this is only a throwback to 2011, but still, its such a good song to get you warmed up for the weekend.
I just love these guys and I can’t get enough of this catchy tune.
